1. Samba to get first railway freight terminal in J and K

  • Jammu and Kashmir will get its first railway freight terminal in Samba District. It has the capacity to move 6,000 to 9,000 metric tonnes of goods per day. A team was made which visited the Samba station at Rakh Amb Tali and also looked into the existing facilities.
  • Prakash Javadekar unveiled the new logo and certificate design of CBFC
  • Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting has unveiled the new logo and certificate design of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

2. PMJAY Scheme launched in puducherry

  • The chief minister of Puducherry V Narayanasamy launched the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) scheme in the union territory.
  • Vivek kumar Johri takes charge as BSF DG
  • Senior IPS officer Vivek Kumar Johri has been appointed as new Director General of Border security force. BSF is headquartered at Delhi.Mr. Johri has succeeded Director General Rajni Kant Mishra.

3. Final NRC released, excludes 19.07 lakhs applicants

  • Assam Government released the Final National Register of citizens, which excluded names of 19.07 lakh applicants. This list included names of 3.11 crore applicants.

4. RBI extends KYC deadline for e-wallets again till Feb 2020

  • National Association of Software and Service Companies(NASSCOM) has written a letter to Reserve Bank of India asking it to extend the deadline from August 31st, 2019 to 31st March 2020.

5. CBDT constitutes five-member “startup Cell” for startups

  • The Central Board of Direct Taxes has announced the creation of “Startup Cell which would constitute of five members. The function of the startup Cell would be to Address the Grievances related to Startup in relation to Tax related issues.

6. India Ranked no. 9th on Happiness index among 28 Nations

  • India’s Position in Happiness Index among 28 Nations is 9th. According to “Global Happiness Survey” from market research firm Ipsos , Indians consider Good Financial conditions and physical Well-being as the top reasons to remain Happy.

7. India’s highest sky cycling Track build in Manali

  • India’s highest sky cycling Track built-in Manali. It has been built at an altitude of 9,000 feet at Gulaba (A tourist place in Manali) and the length of this track is 350m. This track has been laid down by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Sports Institute under the supervision of Colonel Neeraj Rana.

8. Mary Kom, Son Heung Min named best Asian athletes

  • Mary Kom, a boxer from India has been named as best Asian athlete for female category and Son Heung who hails from South Korea has been named as best Asian Athletes(Male) in the first ever Awards for Asia ceremony. This award has been organised by Asian Sportswriters Union (AIPS Asia).

9. PNB, Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank to be Merged

  • The Indian government has announced the merger of three banks namely PNB, Oriental Bank of Commerce and United Bank of India in order to create second-largest banking network in the country with 11,431 branches.

10. India’s GDP growth falls to six low of 5% in Q1

  • There is a severe downfall in the manufacturing activity in India which has pulled down country’s GDP growth rate in the first quarter which ended in June down to 5% which makes it Fourth successive quarter of decline growth in a line.

11. ADB President Mr. Takehiko Nakao pledges over $12 billion to India in Support of New Flagship initiatives

  • Asian Development Bank president Mr. Takehiko Nakao pledges over $12 billion to support Flagship initiatives of India. This is the third time where Mr. Nakao has met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi since the time he became the president.
