1) Oleksiy Honcharuk: Prime Minister of Ukraine

  • Oleksiy Honcharuk has been appointed as new Prime Minister of Ukraine. He is 35 years old and has only 3 years of experience. Oleksiy Honcharuk is the youngest Prime Minister of Ukraine.

2) India’s longest electrified rail tunnel inaugurated in AP state

  • On 1 September 2019, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated India’s longest electrified rail tunnel. Situated between Cherlopalli and Rapuru stations of Andhra Pradesh, the 6.6-km long tunnel is a part of the Obulavaripalli-Venkatachalam railway line.

3) Vice President inaugurates the 5th ‘Aqua Aquaria India’ in Hyderabad

  • The Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the ‘Aqua Aquaria India 2019’ show in Hyderabad on 31 August 2019. It was the 3-day exposition. ‘Aqua Aquaria India’ is India’s International Aquaculture Show which is organized by the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA).

4) Central Bank of India and ECL Finance signs pact to co-lend to MSMEs

  • On 2 September 2019, the Central Bank of India has signed an agreement with ECL Finance for co-origination of loans to micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) customers. ECL Finance is a subsidiary of Edelweiss Financial Services.

5) Lt Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane: Vice chief of Indian Army

  • Lt Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane assumed the charge of Vice Chief of the Army Staff on 01 September 2019. He succeeded Lt Gen Devraj Anbu who superannuated on 31 August 2019.

6) Naval Phase of Defence Correspondents Course 2019 concludes at Mumbai

  • The Navy and Coast Guard leg of the 2019 edition of the Defence Correspondents Course (DCC) concluded at Mumbai on 31 August 2019. The course was conducted at Western Naval Command, Mumbai and coordinated by the Maritime Warfare Centre (Mumbai). It was started on 26 August 2019.

7) Tamil Nadu got GI tags for Dindigul Lock and Kandangi Sarees

Chennai-based Geographical Indication Registry of India would grant two GI tags to the Tamil Nadu for Dindigul Lock and Kandangi Sarees. The registry would grant the GI status for Dindigul lock to the Dindigul Lock, Hardware and Steel Furniture Workers Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd, Dindugal and for Kandangi Sarees to the department of handlooms and textiles, Tamil Nadu.

8) Jasprit Bumrah become the third Indian to claim a Hat-trick in test cricket

  • Jasprit Bumrah is the third Indian Cricketer to get a hat-trick in test cricket. He got his test Cricket against the West Indies in Jamaica. He showed his exceptional bowling skills as he was successful in taking fifth five-wicket haul. Apart from Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan have also taken hat-trick in test cricket against Australia and Pakistan respectively. It was second five-wicket haul in two innings. He had picked up a five wicket haul in the second innings of the first test against West Indies in Antigua.

9) India gets it’s first Apache Guardian Attack Helicopter

  • Being,a major US aerospace has given Indian Air Force first of 22 Apache guardian attack Helicopter. The addition of AH-64E(I) Apache Helicopter is a significant step towards modernization of the Indian Air force.It is much more developed than MI 35 which we got from Russia. Apache Helicopter is used by Air force of many countries like United States, Israel,Egypt, Netherlands.This is also used by Britain which used it for Afghanistan and Iraq operation .Currently UK operates a more modernize version of Apache Longbow. The AH-64E Apache is leading multi-role attack helicopter and is flown by the USA Army.This Helicopter is battle-war tested. Apache as a project was started in 1975. The helicopter has been made to foster the needs and requirements of Indian Air force so that it can be used in mountainous Region. It has the capability to carry out precise attacks. It can strike a distant target as it’s Longbow Radar can locate upto 256 targets simultaneously within 50km. It can transmit and received the battlefield pictures through data networking making it lethal acquision.

10) India will overtake China as the largest importer of coking coal by 2025

  • According to Fitch Solutions Macro Research India would overtake China as the largest importer of coking coal by 2025. It was concluded that India’s coking coal consumption would grow at an annual average rate of 5.4 percent between 2019 and 2028, and there would be expansion in steel production as well.

11) India Clinched SAFF U-15 Championship 2019 title for the third Time by beating Nepal

  • Indian team won the title of SAFF U-15 Championship 2019 at Kalyani Stadium. India defeated Nepal. This is the third time where India has won this title.

12) GST collection downs below Rs. 1 lakh crore to Rs. 98,202 crore in August

  • There is a drop in Goods and Service Tax collection in the month of August where the collection was 98,202 crore in comparision with previous month where the collection was Rs. 1.02 lakh crore.

13) Yashaswini has won women’s 10m air pistol gold in the ISSF world cup

  • 22 year old Yashaswini Deswal, who is an Indian Shooter has won gold in women’s 10m air pistol at the ISSF world cup. This world cup was held in Rio de Janeiro.

14) Five New Governors Appointed

  • Indian President Ram Nath Kovind on aid and advice of Prime Minister has appointed Five governors of State. Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan would take the Charge as governor of Telangana.

15) Meit Y partners with google to roll out ‘build for Digital India’ programme

  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and Google signed an agreement to roll-out ‘Build for Digital India’. This programme will give platform to the engineering Students to develop a technology based solution system to foster the Social problems of India.
