1) US open tennis tournament 2019

  • The 2019 US open tennis tournament was held on outdoor hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City .It was 139th edition of tennis’ US Open Championship. Rafael Nadal won the men’s singles title and Bianca Andreescu won her first Grand Slam singles title.

2) Conference of Military Medicine for SCO members States to be held in New Delhi on 12-13 September

  • The first conference of Military Medicine for Shanghai Co-operation Organization (SCO) Member States to be held on 12th -13th.It will be the first military cooperation event, which will be hosted by India under the SCO Defence Co-operation Plan 2019-2020, after it became an SCO Member State in 2017.

3) Fourth Indian Ocean conference 2019 held in Male

  • 2019 Indian Ocean Conference was held in Male,Maldives. This is the 4th Indian Ocean conference. The theme of This Conference is ‘Securing the Indian Ocean Region: Traditional and Non-Traditional Challenges’.

4) Rajnath Singh meets South Korean defence counterpart, discusses boosting ties

  • A bilateral meeting was held between Indian defence Minister Rajnath Singh and his South Korean Counterpart Jeong Kyeong-Doo.In the meeting the two ministers reviewed defence cooperation between both countries. During the meeting, both parties agreed that there was great potential to further enhance defence ties.

5) Telangana’s 1st mega food park innaugrated at Lakkampally village in Nizamabad district

  • Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal inaugurated the food park at Telangana’s Lakkampally village in Nizamabad District. This is the first Mega Food park of Telangana.

6) Asian Achiever’s award 2019

  • The winners of the prestigious 19th annual Asian Achievers Awards were announced in a ceremony held on 6th September at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, on Park Lane. Women of the Year award was given to Neeta Patel.

7) Piyush Goyal to attend RCEP meet in Thailand

  • Registration Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) meeting would be held on September 8 and 10 in Thailand.
  • India Declare free of Avian Influenza(H5N1)
  • With effect from September 3,India has been declared free of Avian influenza(H5N1) by OIE-World Organisation for Animal Health.

8) India rises in WEF travel rankings; how countries scored.

  • World Economic Forum released a report which ranks the Travel and Tourism competitiveness of 140 economies. According to biennial Travel and Tourism Competitive Report India has made the greatest improvement since 2017. India is ranked 34, up six places from 2017.
  • DR. B Bala Bhaskar is the next newly appointed Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Norway
  • Dr. B Bala Bhaskar has been appointed as newly appointed Ambassador of India to the United Kingdom of Norway. He will replace Krishnan Kumar who is leading India in Norway since July 2018.

9) The UNESCO ties up with Rajasthan to promote states intangible cultural heritage

  • UNESCO joins hands with Government of Rajasthan. The aim of this agreement is promote music, art and craft forms, and other intangible cultural heritage of the state to encourage socio-economic growth of several artist communities.
